Web Marketing Manager
In charge of all web-related marketing programs, including web-based advertising, email programs and Empirix website-based lead generation (forms, offers, etc.) and the budget for them. Investigate, recommend and manage web-related advertising campaigns including search engine advertising, banner advertising, email, e-newsletter sponsorships, and web seminars. Optimize the site for search engine effectiveness and run several campaigns of pay-for-click advertising to increase our site visits and leads.
- Increased the quality and number of software downloads (leads) by improving site search engine positioning via optimization, creating and managing successful pay-per-click campaigns in Google and Overture, improving the download experience, and making downloads easily accessible from our site. On pace in Q2-04 to pull over 700 North American leads from Google alone.
- Doubled search engine advertising effectiveness from a 2% click-through rate (% of total ad impressions resulting in a visit to our site) to 4% and doubled the number of terms being advertised. As a measure of my success with search engines, my budget increased ten-fold from 2001 to the present.
- Performed detailed search engine optimization on our site to improve positioning in search engines (most importantly, in Google) and increase search engine visitors. Weekly site traffic has increased from an average of 5,000 unique visitors per week to over 20,000 per week.
- Re-engineered web site design to remove confusing navigation and improve visitor access to the information they require. Implemented lead capture for white papers, flash demos and recorded web events to increase site lead generation capabilities beyond just downloads.
- Managed an in-house email marketing database of approximately 40,000 addresses (90% North American) to send company newsletters, event announcements, product information and special offers. Improved the subscribe/unsubscribe process for list members while complying fully with national CAN-SPAM legislation requirements.

- Increased site traffic from under 5,000 visits per month to over 13,000 visits per month in one year. Company benefited by increased market awareness of its products.
- Increased leads generated by website from under 20 per month to over 250 per month. Many prospects added to sales pipeline.
- Re-architected website to incorporate new languages and to accept new languages with a minimum of extra effort. Spanish and Italian languages rolled out on site in less than one day following translation. Increased customer perception of company as a global company.
- Wrote and produced 75-second company profile video shown on “Profiles in Innovation” series on Continental Airlines flights. Increased mind share among business travelers (company’s core market).
- Wrote and designed two four-color, full-page advertisements that ran in Continental Magazine and its First Class supplement as part of the “Profiles in Innovation” campaign. Business reply card resulted in many leads transferred to sales department.

- Wrote original proposal to launch company’s Internet site in the Fall of 1994. Launched site in January, 1995. Company was seen as a market leader by being one of the first companies on the Internet with a website.
- Increased site traffic year over year. Between November, 1998 and November, 1999, visits increased from 500 per month to 5,000 per month.
- Wrote and rewrote the content of the website over the years to reflect the company’s changing product and marketing focus. This kept the company’s message current for its customers and prospects.
- Wrote and edited majority of company collateral, including brochures, data sheets and white papers. Company was able to provide its sales force with up-to-date collateral for prospects.
- Member of team that created the first graphical user interface standards for the company’s first Windows-based products. Presented a consistent user interface to customers.
- Revamped company’s book production process to minimize errors and costly reprinting of its software manuals. Saved significant money and time during the production process.
